HOST Families Sought

To House International Visitors

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to have someone living abroad share their ideas, culture and language with you and your family? Visiting students and educators are anxious to meet and learn from you, too.

Opportunities to host a short-term visitor for a few days, a month, or even up to a full school year are available. Our office works with host families throughout each hosting period.

Here are just a few situations for you to open your home and heart to:

§      April or May: two, 2-week host families are needed.

§      April-May: four, 1-month host families are needed.

§      August 2004 – May 2005: two host families are needed the entire school year.

Program for North American Mobility in Higher Education (FIPSE 3-DEE)

Student Exchange Program

During January, Mequon Campus Environmental and Pollution Control Technology students Jennifer Adams and Julie Radermacher will spent 3 weeks in Mexico studying at Universidad Tecnológica de Tula-Tepeji in a similar program, visit industry sites and analyze pollution and water. Final project criteria include developing web-based activities to facilitate relationship-building and creating a greater knowledge base. Stipends and scholarships support the students participating in this unique learning experience.

Later this year, students from Mexico and Canada will participate in the program by traveling to Wisconsin, living with “host” families, and attending classes at Mequon Campus. This is the first time exchanges have occurred in this five-year project.
